英語学習アプリ「Duolingo」で取り上げられている英文をまとめて学習につなげる「Duolingo英語術」、今回はDuolingoのセクション5のユニット17、“Talk about the news”(ニュースについて話す)を取り上げます。

セクション4の「ニュースの話をする」の第2弾、ここではスパイ、裁判、収監や交通事故等といった「事件・事故」報道に関する表現などが登場します。

拘置所・刑務所(jail)

Airport security found a bomb in a passenger’s suitcase! The passenger went to jail.

事故・火災に関する表現

The highway was closed because of a car crash.

They’re enemies because they want to hurt each other.

Ben knows how to use a gun, but he doesn’t ever want to hurt anyone.
